Jaishankar in Beijing Urges Dialogue Between India and China: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing on Monday and said the ties have improved. Jaishankar is confident that the talks during his visit will continue on that path.
During his meeting with Han Zheng, Jaishankar expressed India’s support to China’s SCO Presidency.
In his opening remarks at the meeting, Jaishankar said, “Our bilateral relationship, as you have pointed out, has been steadily improving since the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan last October. I am confident that my discussions in this visit will maintain that positive trajectory.”
"We have marked the 75th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations. The resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is also widely appreciated in India. Continued normalisation of our ties can produce mutually beneficial outcomes," he said.

Jaishankar arrived in China after wrapping up his Singapore visit on Sunday evening. This is his first visit to China after the ties between the two countries went through a rough patch following the 2020 military standoff along the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
He will meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi later today for a bilateral meeting. Jaishankar and Yi last met in February on the sidelines of a G20 meeting in Johannesburg where both sides had called for mutual trust and support. Yi is also expected to visit India next month to meet NSA Ajit Doval – part of the planned SR mechanism to resolve the decades old boundary dispute.
