Gurugram Rains Claim Auto Driver’s Life: An auto-rickshaw driver died after falling into an open sewer in Sector 49, Gurugram during heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening. The victim, 27-year-old Shailendra from Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj, was found dead by police after his family reported him missing.
According to his wife, she last spoke to him around 5 pm on Wednesday when he said he was dropping a passenger from Sector 10 to Sector 49 and would be back soon. He didn’t respond to calls after another conversation at around 9 pm.
According to TOI, his wife called him around 200 times through the night and into Thursday morning. After getting no response from Shailendra, the family filed a missing complaint with the cops.
Police found the body from a sewer near Sheeshpal Vihar’s Gate number 2. His phone was also found in his auto which was parked near the spot where his body was found.

According to the cops, Shailendra had gone to relieve himself and didn’t see the submerged sewer and fell into it. The area was waterlogged with water levels ranging from 2.5 to 3 feet.
At least 5 people died, including 3 who died of electrocution in separate incidents during the rain overnight in Gurugram on Wednesday. Other victims include a graphic designer, a security staff and two labourers.
A graphic designer, Akshat Jain, died after receiving electric shock from a pole near Ghasola village close to Sector 49. His family filed a negligence case against the power department at Sector 50 police station.

Another person, Pawan Kumar from UP’s Farrukhabad, died of electrocution after he touched a pole at Genpact Chowk. The third electrocution victim was Prashant who died in Arjun Nagar while visiting relatives.
A woman, Vanshika, was returning home in a cab after getting off from her job as a security staff at IGI airport died in a road accident near Khandsa.
Several areas in Gurugram were waterlogged due to heavy rainfall throughout the Delhi-NCR region on Wednesday.Yellow alert today for Delhi and NCR including Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rewari, Mewat and Palwal. Delhi’s minimum temperature 25.1°C.
