ISRO Unveils India Prime Astronaut: The reports about the astronaut came on Friday by ISRO and also said that if the group captain Shukla is unable to perform his duty then Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair will be the charge.

ISRO Unveils India Prime Astronaut: For the Axiom-4 mission, ISRO on Friday selected two India astronauts, Shukla who is 39 year old, and Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair who is 48 years old.
Shukla was named the "prime" astronaut, which meant that he would be the one to go to the first ISRO-NASA mission to the International Space Station. The first ISRO-NASA mission is scheduled after October this year.
The reports about the astronaut came on Friday by ISRO and also said that if the group captain Shukla is unable to perform his duty then Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair will be the charge.
The only Indian who went to space was Rakesh Sharma in the Soviet spacecraft in 1984 as the wing commander.

As per the reports, Shukla and Nair are two of the four Indian Air Force officers chosen for the Gaganyaan mission. However, the mission launch date has been delayed to next year.
The ISRO further reported that Shukla and Nair will go for mission-specific training for eight weeks.
To be perfectly ready for the event the four Indian Air Force officers chosen for the Gaganyaan mission have already gone through rigorous training.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip the to US last year, he made a deal with Washington that India will help the Axiom-4 mission.
However, this is the fourth mission that the private space company Axiom Space has done with NASA.

Along with the three other scientists from Poland, Hungary, and the United States, the mission will be carried out in a SpaceX rocket.
The spaceship will remain docked with the ISS for 14 days as it will carry goods and supplies for the ISS.
The exact launch date of the Axiom-4 mission hasn’t been announced yet. While NASA reported that the mission launch date may be after October, there are no plans for it to happen before October.
In a separate statement, Poland's space agency, POLSA, said today that the mission would not happen until next year.
