IPL 2024: Jake Frazer McGurk Drives Delhi to Second Victory Over Lucknow
As well, Kuldeep Yadav returned from his groin injury after missing the last three games, while Jake Fraser-McGurk made his highly-anticipated IPL debut

IPL 2024: On Friday, Delhi Capitals won by six wickets against Lucknow Super Giants in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League. Lucknow was restricted to 167 by Kuldeep Yadav's three-wicket spell, and Delhi chased down the target with 11 balls left with a quickfire fifty from Jake Fraser-McGurk.
In the first game of the season, Lucknow suffered a maiden defeat at Ekana Cricket Stadium, ending a three-match winning streak, while Delhi moved from bottom to ninth in the points table with a win. For the Super Giants, it was their first loss after 13 games while defending 160-plus totals.
As well, Kuldeep Yadav returned from his groin injury after missing the last three games, while Jake Fraser-McGurk made his highly-anticipated IPL debut. Arshad Khan was brought in to replace Mayank Yadav, who was injured.
In the powerplay, Lucknow struggled for a positive start as Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Quinton de Kock and struggled with Devdutt Padikkal. The returning Kuldeep dismissed Marcus Stoinins and Nicholas Pooran on the back-to-back deliveries to place Lucknow under pressure.
While KL Rahul scored 39 runs off just 22 balls, LSG lost the first seven wickets on 94, failing to convert his score into a big knock. To help Lucknow post 167/7 in 20 overs, Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan put on an unbeaten 73-run stand for the eighth wicket.
Shaw and Fraser-McGurk contributed 32 runs from 22 deliveries until Shaw was caught out by Ravi Bishnoi in the 7th over after contributing 32 runs.
The five sixes and two boundaries McGurk scored on his DC debut were a sign of good things to come for the franchise, which needs some inspiration.
Rishabh Pant then joined Fraser-McGurk in a partnership that yielded 77 runs from 46 balls before Fraser-McGurk was dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq in the 15th over.
As Delhi jumped to 9th on the table, Tristan Stubbs and Shai Hope took the team over the line comfortably.
