India’s Got Latent Row: The National Commission for Women (NCW) took a very serious note of the derogatory remarks made by Ranveer Allahbadia and others on the show, so the controversy of India's Got Latent was revived. On Tuesday, the Mumbai police visited the YouTuber's residence, while the next day, Ms. Apoorva Mukhija appeared before Khar police station, Mumbai, to record her statement.

Apoorva Mukhija records police statement

In a video shared by news agency ANI on their official handle on X, Apoorva Mukhija was seen emerging out of the police station with reporters surrounding her, asking about the case. The comedian/influencer masked her face and automatically walked towards her car, deliberately not commenting on the matter.

“Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija today appeared before police in Khar police station, in the case related to the show India's Got Latent. A complaint has been filed against YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina and the organisers of the show India's Got Latent for allegedly using abusive and vulgar language on the show, ” read the caption of the post.

About the controversy

Contrary to the protest against the offensive comments, other creators opened the show with Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh, along with Ranveer Allahbadia.

Women's agency currently directs them to appear before the commission in person on February 17th at noon at the NCW office in New Delhi, according to the communiqué.

Maharashtra's chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, was also put to question by journalists over the podcaster's remarks. To this he said, "I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others."
