India to Repatriate Overstaying Nationals in US: The Indian Ministry for External Affairs stated on Friday that whenever a migrant's nationality has been established to be other than Indian, he would be sent back. This development has come to light even as the Trump administration in the US has initiated the biggest crackdown on irregular immigrants. The crackdown is reported to have taken 538 migrants into custody and to have sent hundreds back, merely days after Donald Trump assumed presidency.

“We are against illegal immigration, especially because it is linked to several forms of organised crime. For Indians not just in the United States, but anywhere in the world, if they are Indian nationals and they are overstaying, or they are in a particular country without proper documentation, we will take them back provided documents are shared with us so that we can verify their nationality and that they are indeed Indians. If that happens to be the case we will take things forward and facilitate their return to India,” assured MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

The operation has commenced even as the Trump-led US government has launched its "largest massive deportation operation in history." The Republican leader had already promised a crackdown on illegal immigration in his electoral campaign. Thus, he came into the presidency with a torrent of executive action aimed at revising immigration into the United States.
“The Trump Administration arrested 538 illegal immigrant criminals. Hundreds deported by military aircraft. The largest massive deportation operation in history is well underway. Promises made. Promises kept,” Karoline Leavitt said in a post on social platform X.
