India Summons Canadian Diplomat Over Pro-Khalistan Slogans at Trudeau Event.

India Summons Canadian Diplomat: In response to pro-Khalistan slogans raised at a public meeting attended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Canadian Deputy High Commissioner and lodged a "strong protest."

In an event attended by Mr. Trudeau, he said that the Canadian government would support the right to religion of the Sikh community without discrimination.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar's murder was blamed on an Indian poster at the rally.

The Indian government protested these disturbing actions that went unchecked.

MEA cautioned that separatism, extremism, and violence in Canada not only impacted India-Canada relations but also contributed to a climate of violence and criminality in Canada.

On the day when The Washington Post revealed the name of an officer from India's external intelligence unit allegedly involved in plotting the assassination of pro-Khalistan advocate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who runs separatist Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) from Canada and New York, the message from India was delivered to the Canadian diplomat.

The Sikhs for Justice, a group that advocates a pro-Khalistan 'referendum', dispatched activists to the Toronto rally that sparked the latest diplomatic spat between Ottawa and New Delhi.

Pannun blamed the Indian High Commissioner in Canada for the murder of Mr. Nijjar and said Mr. Trudeau's assurances were reassuring.

As part of the SFJ's participation in Mr. Trudeau's meeting in Toronto, they chanted pro-Khalistan slogans and carried posters targeting the Indian leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
