National Space Day on August 23: The Union Government announced that August 23rd will be celebrated as the "National Space Day" to honor the Chandrayaan-3 Mission's huge success.

India Declares National Space Day: India will celebrate the first-ever National Space Day on August 23rd.
This day was decided he National Space Day because on this day Chandrayaan 3 succeeded in making a safe landing of Vikram Lander on the lunar surface.
This made India the fourth country to land on the moon and the first country to land in the southern polar region of the moon.
The Union Government announced that August 23rd will be celebrated as the "National Space Day" to honor the Chandrayaan-3 Mission's huge success. The Vikram Lander landed safely and deployed the Pragyaan rover on the moon's surface near the South Pole.

This was a huge achievement for India and to honor this National Space Day was formed. The day also focuses on inspiring the young generation of the country who are interested in space and technology.
To spread awareness about this historic achievement, the Department of Fisheries (DoF), and the Government of India (GoI) are organizing several seminars about space technologies in the Fisheries Sector.
These seminars and events are organized with the help of ISRO, DoF field offices and many other coastal States and Union Territories.
In a notification, the Department of Space said, “With the success of the Chandrayaan-3 Mission on August 23, 2023, with the landing of the Vikram lander and deployment of the Pragyaan Rover on the lunar surface, India joins an elite group of Space faring nations becoming the fourth country to land on the moon and the first nation to land near to South pole of the moon.”

It further added, “The outcome of this historic mission will benefit mankind in the years to come.”
According to the notice, this day is a big achievement in the country's advancements in space projects and will inspire the young generation who are interested in STEM fields.
The notice at last added, “The Government of India has declared August 23 of every year as 'National Space Day' to commemorate this historic moment.”
