Iconic Hamilton Hall Seized by Columbia Protesters: At Columbia University, protesters barricaded themselves inside an academic building and raised pro-Palestine banners.

Hamilton Hall, a building long associated with student activism, was the site of the latest demonstration.

Several anti-war protests have taken place at Columbia University's Hamilton Hall building, including those in 1968, 1972, 1985, and most recently.

Activists occupied Hamilton Hall during the Vietnam War protests in 1968.

In protest of Gaza's war, demonstrators once again occupied the academic building, located near the campus's South Lawn.

In videos from the campus, protesters used furniture to barricade the doors of Hamilton Hall, with hundreds camped outside the building.

Hamilton Hall hung a white banner in memory of Hind Rajab, a six-year-old girl killed in Gaza earlier this year.

On Columbia University and other US campuses, pro-Palestine protests continued despite hundreds of arrests and threats of sanctions.

According to Columbia University President Minouche Shafik, the university does not intend to suppress the right to peaceful protest or speech.

Protesters barricaded themselves inside the hall after breaking the glass door.

Additionally, a Palestine flag was draped from the window by demonstrators.

Students began a picket near South Lawn around 12:30 am on Tuesday, escalating the situation.

From inside the classrooms, protestors brought chairs and tables to block the doors.

According to a Columbia Spectator report, protesters reinforced the door barricade with metal tables and trash cans.

It was reported in the Columbia Spectator that a facilities worker left the building around 12:40 am, yelling, "They held me hostage."

A worker inside the building was scuffled with by demonstrators.

Protesters have demanded divestment from South African companies and created an unwelcoming environment for Jewish students and faculty.

Among the demands of the protesters are a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the end of US military assistance to Israel, and university divestment from companies profiting from Israel's invasion.

Following the Israeli assault on Gaza, the administration clamped down on encampments.
