Harshit Rana’s Aeroplane Celebration After Dismissing Travis Head for Maiden Test Wicket: Harshit Rana was over the top in celebrating his maiden Test wicket, running around like a headless chicken, shrugging his shoulders and punching the air, after play resumed between India and Australia on the first day of the Border-Gavaskar Series at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The right-arm fast bowler from Delhi, after managing to put only 150 runs on the board in the first innings, dismissed Travis Head.

Rana started off his Test career without conceding any runs during his first over. The next over turned out to be a little expensive as Head hit a couple of boundaries. But after a few overs, the 22-year-old returned more decisively to make an impact on the match, castle one of the opponents' most dangerous batters. This good length delivery that was pitched on the off stump, came in to beat the outside edge of Head and then proceeded to mow down the top of off stump.
The crucial breakthrough saw Australia getting reduced to 31/4. Before Rana struck to dismiss head, Bumrah had already cleaned up Australia’s top three. The stand-in Indian captain opened his account by dismissing Nathan McSweeney for 10 off 13 and then got rid of Usman Khawaja (8) and former Australia captain Steve Smith (0) on successive deliveries.

Earlier, the golden duck effect prevailed for India until the brave 41 runs from debutant Nitish Reddy and the brief bull-headed intervention from Rishabh Pant, as they chose to bat against a well-composed Australian side on the first test match’s opening day and were all out for a miserable 150 at the tea break. In rather baffling sequences that can be referred to as tactical shots in the weeks and months to come, captain Jasprit Bumrah’s inexplicable decision of choosing to bat first on a bouncy green top would raise eyebrows.

Pant (37 off 78 balls), whose no-look six over square leg backward from Pat Cummins had everyone gasping, found great support in Reddy as they put up 48 runs for the seventh wicket after India’s top-order had been taken out by a combination of extra bounce and seam movement from Mitchell Starc (2/14 in 11 overs) standing at the ready and Josh Hazlewood (4/29 in 13 overs).
