Gujarat Bridge Collapse: Heartbreaking Video Shows Mother Screaming for Help as Son Drowns

Gujarat Bridge Collapse: On Wednesday, the Gambhira bridge in Gujarat collapsed as a result of which nine people died and one of them was a child. Footages of the video have since made their way on social media and depicted trucks and smaller cars being facedown on water.
There was also one heart-rending video in which a woman could be seen standing water deep, screaming asking people to rescue her son, who was still trapped in one of the cars. This was a four-decades old roadway bridge that had linked the central part of Gujarat with the Saurashtra part of the state over the Mahisagar river.

The tragic accident occurred in the morning of Wednesday and it threw five vehicles (2 trucks, 2 vans and an auto rickshaw) into the Mahisagar river. Vadodara Collector Anil Dhameliya told PTI that in other two cars, the cars were very near to falling down too, but were dragged away to safer point. The other three were able to swim to safety following their two-wheeler falling into the river.

“Around nine people have died. Further processing is underway at a hospital. Around nine people have been rescued, five of them have been referred to the SSG Hospital. None of the people who have been rescued are critical,” confirmed Vadodara Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand.

Later, Prime minister Narendra Modi declared a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to be paid by the PM National Relief Fund to the immediate family of the dead and Rs 50, 000 to the injured adult. Also, in the condolence of the incident, the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed a quick investigation of the incident made.
