Good News for Delhiites: Union minister of Railways Ravneet Singh announced on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the Vande Bharat train from Kashmir to New Delhi in the month of January. The above mentioned train’s maiden journey on the route is set to cross the world’s tallest railway bridge along the Chenab river. However, only a small portion of 17 kilometers of track between Katra and Reasi remains to be laid.
"In January, as per the Prime Minister's schedule, the inauguration will take place. According to railway officials, this project is expected to be completed by December this year," Singh told reporters.

The minister stated that every single factor from the perspective of security should be ensured, and all these things are being very carefully done. Officers and technical teams are going up and down persistent to ensure that all the necessary standards and requirements are met.
"A lot of hard work has been put into this project, which is a massive undertaking. Once every aspect is verified, only then the date for its inauguration be decided," he said.
There is a lot of burden being borne on the highway in terms of trucks and vehicles which are many and also does not operate in the winter season. The project is expected to ease the transport woes of the valley residents and boost tourism as well as commerce. "It is a gift to the people of Kashmir from the NDA government and the Prime Minister," Singh said.

He added that previously, the project was on hold for some time, however the last eight years or so, the work increased and now is set to be finished in December.
Vande Bharat train fare from Delhi to Kashmir is designed to be between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,100.
The minister revealed that ticket fare will range at Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2100. The train will halt in Jammu and Mata Vaishno Devi. Products, fresh fruits, flowers, and vegetables from this area would reach Delhi more quickly. The Kashmir Vande Bharat Express will consist of 11 AC 3 tier coach, Four AC 2 tier coach and one First AC coach.
This will also include Chinab Bridge which is at 359m above the Chenab riverbed and is 35m higher than the Eiffel Tower Paris. This is a vital component in the 111 km long Katra-Banihal stretch of the Kashmir Railway Project which lies in the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla sector.
