Ghaziabad Woman Alleges Torture by Husband, Says He Forced Her to Look Like Nora Fatehi

Ghaziabad Woman Alleges Torture: In a bizarre case, a woman has approached the Ghazaibad Police against her husband for allegedly harassing her by forcing her to stay fit like Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi.

In her complaint lodged at Muradnagar Police Station, the woman claimed that her husband, Shivam Ujjwal, a government physical education teacher, wanted her to look like Nora Fatehi. For this, he started pressurising her to exercise for 3 hours daily. If she doesn’t exercise for 3 hours on any day, she is not given food.

On March 6, Shanu or Shanvi got married to Shivam Ujjawal in Ghaziabad through an arranged marriage set-up. Shanu’s family spent over Rs 76 lakh on the marriage, including dowry - Rs 16 lakh worth of jewellery, a Mahindra Scorpio costing Rs 24 lakh and Rs 10 lakh given in cash.

Shanu, 26, was looking forward to start this new chapter of her life but it soon turned into a nightmare. It started with Shanu’s mother-in-law keeping her occupied with household chores and not giving her time with Shivam. The couple was not allowed to go out together.

One day when Shivam, a physical education teacher at a government school, returned home, he lost his cool because Shanu hadn’t put mosquito net. Shivam went to his parents’ room, leaving Shanu behind.

Shanu’s in-laws abused her while her husband hit her.

After becoming pregnant, the woman alleged that her in-laws gave her food that harmed her health. In July 2025, she suffered excessive bleeding and unbearable pain and was admitted to hospital where the doctors confirmed a miscarriage caused by mental and physical abuse along with improper diet.

Shanvi returned to her maternal home. She alleged that her husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law abused her and her family over video calls and threatened her with divorce. On July 26, when she went to her in-laws’ house with her parents, she was not allowed to enter and was also not given back her jewellery gifted by her maternal family.

ACP Saloni Agarwal confirmed the complaint, saying, "A woman had complained that her husband misbehaves with her since marriage. Her husband likes actress Nora Fatehi and he makes her exercise for three hours to make her like Nora Fatehi. And if she does not do it, he does not give her anything to eat. The woman's complaint and a case have been registered by the police and further action will be taken after investigating the matter."
