India head coach Gautam Gambhir has noted that their current tour in England has been quite difficult as has been the case in the past and the kind of support that is being enjoyed by the team.

India earned a tough-earned draw in Manchester to make sure that England will not go into an unassailable lead to series and hand them one last opportunity of ending up the winners at a draw of the last remaining Test at London, starting Thursday.

England are the current leaders in the series as they won the first two matches in Leeds and Lord.

“Touring this part of the world has always been exciting and challenging because of the history between the two countries, which can never be forgotten," Gambhir said. “We have cherished every bit of support we have received every time we have toured the UK."

Gambhir discussed at a reception held at the India House in London on Monday night where the team was given a thunderous reception by the community leaders, parliamentarians and sports enthusiasts during a diaspora reception organized by the High Commission of India in London.

The scoreline is something that England should be pleased about but it could have so many times been 3-1 to the visiting team had India not allowed them to get the better of them.

Gambhir is pleased that the series is progressing the way it has.

“The last five weeks have been really exciting for both countries," Gambhir said. “I am sure that the kind of cricket that was put on display has made every cricket lover proud. Both teams threw a lot of punches and fought for every inch."

“We have one more week to go. One final push to make. One final opportunity to make our country proud. Jai Hind," he concluded.

The High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, India, added that the fighting spirit exhibited by the team throughout the series only represented the spirit of the country to keep on fighting against the odds.

“It’s been a great series, played in the best of spirit. But the best bit of it all is the fact that we have a chance to see Test cricket played the way it is intended to be – contests for full five days, contests that have gone to the wire, contests in which the great sense of cricket as a game that is played with intensity for five days."
