Islamabad, Jul 29 (PTI) The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday again postponed the hearing of the bail petition appeals made by former prime minister Imran Khan in respect to the May 9 violence cases until August 12.

Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been booked in multiple cases in Lahore regarding the violence that has occurred on May 9, 2023; he is accused of inciting his supporters to violence and assault government and military buildings, which could begin after he was arrested by paramilitary Rangers on the premises of the Islamabad High Court.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui were part of a two-judge SC bench that advocated the postponement of hearing at the request of the defence counsel.
On behalf of Khan appeared Barrister Salman Akram Raja who is also Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. In his information, he told the court that the leading counsel- Salman Safdar was out of the country and therefore he was requesting adjournment.

Raja also asked that the concerned be notified about it and the case be heard next week.
The case was, however, delayed to continue in the second week of August.
The LHC had already declined the bail of Khan on the ground that he was involved in plotting attacks on military installation with anticipation of his arrest on May 9.
Khan, 72, former prime minister removed in April 2022, is since August 2023 in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi where he was convicted of corruption. There are several legal cases he has to answer and the majority of them were brought forth following his ousting.
