FIR has been registered against SP leader Ummed Pahalwan in Ghaziabad Elderly Assault case
An FIR has been registered against Samajwadi Party (SP) politician Ummed Pahalwan Idrisi for allegedly inciting communal emotions in connection with the attack of an elderly Muslim man in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. On June 7, Idrisi took the old guy to the police station to make a report. On Wednesday, he also went live on Facebook with the old guy.

In connection with the attack on an elderly man, the Ghaziabad Police have charged a local Samajwadi Party official for "spreading communal hatred" over social media. Ummed Pahalwan Idrisi has been recognised as the leader.
On 7th June, Idrisi took Sufi Abdul Samad Saifi, the man who had been beaten by six people, to the police station to make a report. He subsequently went on Facebook Live with Samad and attempted to give the incident a community spin.
The Ghaziabad Police have filed an FIR against the SP leader, accusing him of spreading the Loni assault video “on religious grounds” without first verifying its veracity. The complainant claimed that this had harmed people's religious feelings. According to the FIR, Facebook did not fact-check the video before allowing it to be spread.
As per the FIR, Idrisi has been accused under sections 153A (promoting enmity), 295A (outraging religious sentiments), 504 (insult), 505 (intent to provoke), and 67 of the Penal Code (transmitting obscene material online). The case was filed at the Loni Border Police Station.
A video of six men assaulting an elderly man recently went viral on social media.
72-year-old Sufi Abdul Samad Saifi was kidnapped and beaten up by six attackers on June 5. They also shaved the victim's beards and forced him to chant the "Jai Shree Ram" slogan, according to reports.
Samad, along with Idrisi, filed an FIR against unnamed individuals two days later. Idrisi was accompanying him. Later, Samad appeared on a Facebook Live alongside Ummed, claiming that he was not only assaulted by assailants, but was also made to chant 'Jai Shri Ram.'
Nonetheless, Ghaziabad Police have ruled out any communal overtones in the crime and stated that the victim knew the perpetrators personally. Three people have been detained in connection with the trashing of an elderly victim, according to police.
According to the FIR, "The victim sold a 'tabeez' (amulet) to the key accused with the promise of bringing him riches, but he [Parvesh] claimed that it harmed his family. When the 'tabeez' did not work, the accused became enraged and attacked the victim."
Reportedly, the Ghaziabad Police filed an FIR on Tuesday night against Twitter, journalists, and two Congress politicians for spreading the footage online with the aim to incite communal violence.
