Father-in‑Law ‘Raped & Killed’ Her, Buried in Faridabad

The murder case of a 25-year-old woman in Haryana, the Faridabad district police said that her father-in-law raped and then strangulated her to death, and had concealed her body flooring it into a pit, according to reports received by the news agency PTI.

Officials also asserted that mother-in-law of the woman is also involved in the crime and get arrested. However, on the run is the husband to the deceased identified as Arun, who is still being hunted by police.

The prime suspect, who is the father in law of the victim Bhoop Singh has been remanded to police custody further yet again three days. In his interrogation, he accused the officer of saying that the crime had been planned, one police official reported.

It was claimed that her in-laws had supposedly killed her and buried her body outside her house and were able to keep her body hidden there for close to two months after they had reported that she was missing back in April.

The woman is originally of Shikohabad, in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh, where she married two years ago to Arun Singh, who lives in Roshan Nagar in Faridabad.

According to a senior investigating officer quoted by PTI, the murder of a 25-year old woman in Faridabad was planned on April 15 and the husband and the mother-in-law also took an active part in it.

After interrogations, the father-in-law, Bhoop Singh allegedly admitted that through the plan, his wife was taken to a wedding in Etah in Uttar Pradesh.

According to sources, on April 21, her husband Arun is thought to have put sleeping pills in the food of his wife as well as his sister Kajal after which both of them fell into a deep sleep in different rooms.

Police allege that, late that night, sentinel Bhoop Singh got into the room of the victim with an aim of strangling her with a dupatta. Nevertheless, he is suspected of raping her before killing her and did not tell his son or his wife about the rape.

He subsequently summoned Arun to the room where they dumped the corpse into a pit earlier dug outside their house and they covered it with bricks and soil. Neighbours were informed that the pit was that of connecting to a sewer connection. This body was found on June 21 on the bottom of the hole covered with a slab of concrete above the 10-foot pit.

Police reports showed that the hole was dug some days before the murder. Exhumation was done in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Jaswant Singh. Bhoop Singh and his wife Sonia, son Arun Singh and daughter Kajal have been booked by an FIR at Palla police station.

In an earlier report published by Hindustan Times, Arun reportedly told the woman family that she perhaps ran away and watered down his claims by saying that the main gate was unlocked when he woke up on April 22. To doubt the version by him, the family of the victim turned to the Faridabad police and encouraged them to question the father-in-law. On further investigation, Bhoop Singh eventually confessed.

Police added that husband, mother in-law and sister in-law might also be arrested in case their involvement in the case is proved.

The missing person complaint is already transformed into a case of murder and the prosecution is going to charge him under Sections 103(1) (murder), 3(5) (common intention) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
