Engineers Arrested for Beating ‘Drunken’ Auto-Driver: On Monday, the Gurugram police arrested two engineers for allegedly beating an auto-driver to death, which occurred on Saturday night in the DLF Phase 3 area due to an argument.
The accused have been identified as Jaideep and Mani Shankar Shukla. According to the police, they were going back to Jaideep's apartment after a dinner outing. When they arrived in the area, they found Sonu, an auto-driver, and asked him to move his vehicle.

In the meantime, the victim evidently appeared to be drunk and poured abuses at the two. Eventually, things got heated, and it turned into an open confrontation where the two accused viciously assaulted Sonu, police said.
The auto-driver was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Sunday morning for treatment but succumbed to injuries due to severe head trauma. He was from Dholi village in Gaya, Bihar, and was living in Nathupur village in a rented house.
According to the police, both accused were employees of a Lucknow-based company. Jaideep resigned in 2022, moved to Gurugram, and set up a cloud kitchen in Gurugram. Mani Shankar also quit his job in Bengaluru in 2024 and came to the city about 20 days ago to look for another job.

Following an 11-month study of crime trends, the Gurugram Police identified multiple crime hotspots for snatching incidents, vehicles theft, eve-teasing, and street brawls in December last year. They covered various areas under the jurisdiction of ten police stations, which included Sohna City, sectors 10A, 50, 53, 14, 29, Shivaji Nagar, Palam Vihar, and Sadar.
“In some areas, we need more police personnel and better patrolling. In others, issues like dark spots and a lack of CCTV cameras are major concerns,” ACP (crime) Varun Dahiya told HT.
