Elon Musk's xAI Allegedly Asked Staff to Install Tracking App on Personal Laptops During Grok AI Training
The xAI of Elon Musk is requesting to put in place tracking applications in personal gadgets of its workers who are craning Grok AI. This order has been said to bring about the fear of privacy amongst the employees concerning the spying at the workplace.

The instruments of such AI are using AI companies to make AI less biased and inaccurate in how states are run, with xAI which was founded by Elon Musk is re-training an already existing model AI-Grok to make changes to its knowledge, in order to remove the biases and inaccuracies by Elon Musk.
Nonetheless, as the workers of xAI are still doing the re-training, there has surfaced a new report stating that the company has requested the employees to install the tracking software in their personal laptops.

In a Business Insider report, xAI gave directives earlier this month, to a group of tutors selected to train Grok to download one of the workforce management tools, Hubstaff, by July11, in case they had not already received a company issued device. It is important to note that with the help of the software, one can track URLs, applications that are used at work and even screen activity can be shown. It is also technically possible to monitor keystrokes and mouse movements, according to the company information on its website Hubstaff.
The report now notes that xAI first explained that the installation of Hubstaff software was to be compulsory to all tutors irrespective of whether they used the company-issued or their own devices. It was stated to the employees that the goal was to facilitate the organization of work flows and evaluate employee performance, with the HR unit of xAI itself saying that the tool would give it a better idea of what happens concerning daily tutoring.
Nonetheless, the policy was said to have elicited an immediate internal opposition. A number of workers raised objections to the invasiveness of the software, particularly because a high proportion were being requested to put it on their own devices. In what comes to be reported as a Slack message sent by one of the staff members, it was stated that the move is nothing less than a surveillance as it is peddled as productivity and manipulation as it is peddled as culture and that the reaction of them resigning.

After the backlash, the report characterises xAI as having altered the policy in certain ways. As an update posted on Slack, the company stated that workers who had requested their use of company-issued laptops would not have to install the software until they received their machines.
Nonetheless, it still remains to be determined whether employees who have already installed Hubstaff, or those who already bought new laptops with the help of the company 50-dollars monthly tech stipend will get the laptop of the company.
xAI has also been quoted to have indicated that the Hubstaff would only track activity during specified work time and that employees could come up with different profiles where they would be safe guarding their personal records. Even though, even the first implementation and vagueness allegedly caused discomfort in some employees.
