Did India Lose a Rafale Jet in Operation Sindoor? Indian Military Responds

Operation Sindoor: On Sunday, Indian military officers conducted a press conference and provided critical insight into Operation Sindoor, its effects and outcomes which they stated, "the objective has been accomplished."

Air Marshal AK Barhi, DGMO LT Gen Rajiv Ghai, Maj Gen SS Sharma and Vice Admiral AN Pramod held the press briefing on Operation Sindoor.

To questions of reports if any Rafale fighter jets had been lost during Operation Sindoor, Air Marshal AK Barhi did not deny or confirm the reports but instead comment that "losses are part of combat."

Indian military said on Sunday, "We are in a combat scenario and losses are a part of it. Question is have we achieved our objective? Answer is a thumping yes. As for details, at this time I would not like to comment on that as we are still in combat and give advantage to adversary. All our pilots are back home."

The officers informed that the Pakistan Army reported that they had "lost" some approximately 35 to 40 personnel in artillery activities and direct small arms firing during the period of the Line of Control actions between May 7 and May 10.

The officers told the reporters, what the other side had probably also not counted on was their own very fast firing and then the rapid turn around, according to the Indian military.

The officers informed that the Indian military reported five casualties during the recent operations against Pakistan.

“I pay my solemn homage to my five colleagues and brothers from the armed forces, and civilians who have tragically lost their lives in operations in world. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families… and we express our solidarity to them in this lifetime and beyond. At this grave juncture in their lives, their sacrifices shall always be remembered and spoken of in glowing terms by a grateful nation,” one of the officers said.

Operation Sindoor

After over three days of heavy fire, India and Pakistan early this Satuday "reached an understanding" to immediately no longer fire or conduct military operations on land, air and sea.

The ceasefire that US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday was violated by Pakistan hours later with drones intercepted over parts of Jammu, Srinagar, Punjab and Rajasthan.

The military confrontation occurred after Islamabad sent drones and missiles toward the Indian territory, in response to the Operation Sindoor military strikes that New Delhi undertook against nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7.

Operation Sindoor was launched as a response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists were found to have links with Pakistan, and they killed 26 civilians in the terrorist attack.
