Dewald Brevis’ Cryptic ‘Yellow’ Post Decoded as CSK Sign Ex‑MI Star Ahead of Clash with Hardik’s Team

Dewald Brevis Instagram had shared an orange square and the fans of Chennai Super Kings pinned their hopes on the fact that the young lad may join them in IPL 2025. Brevis, of course, seems to be hinting at his joining CSK after he posted an image of nothing but a yellow square that stirred up rumors.

Immediately after, an official IPL press release came confirming that Brevis was set to join CSK as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh.

Due to the Instagram post, rumors are said to be buzzing that he would be included in CSK's plans for IPL 2025, and netizens erupted about the chances of the extremely talented young player becoming a part of CSK's outfit for the rest of the season.

This is his debut season with CSK, having had a handful of experiences with MI. He played a total of 10 games for the Mumbai Indians between 2022 and 2024. Not that Brevis has any standout IPL numbers, with just 23 at an average and strike rate of 133, but he comes into this season carrying the weight of a good show in the SA20 this year.

For MI Cape Town, Brevis registered 291 runs at a strike-rate of 184 with the maximum 25 sixes in the competition, which boasted elite power-hitters including Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs. Although 21-year-old Brevis isn't quite a finished product, he has made a name for himself as a future prospect. Brevis was in high demand to replace injured players just from another two-three days prior to this.

South African 'Baby AB' is known for his aesthetic resemblance with AB de Villiers when he bats. CSK hopes for a similar impact from their replacement player, who will come in for Gurjapneet, thus augmenting a fading middle order.

CSK are in the last position in the table with just four points, and Brevis is an addition that could potentially bring a second-half charge for them toward the playoffs.
