Described as Braveheart meets John Wick, The Peasant has the spirit of both Fifth Season and Thunder Road behind it. The plot follows a shepherd whose raging vendetta against mercenary knights who ruined his village proves that he is much more than an ordinary man.
Originally commissioned by Fifth Season to be developed and written by Will Dunn, The Peasant was at one stage conceived as a papal thriller set in Italy. With Patel's involvement, the setting was transformed to be an almost mystical 1300s India. Patel and Dunn are collaborating on new drafts.
