Delhi’s Air Quality Deteriorates to ‘Very Poor’ Ahead of Diwali Despite Firecracker Ban

Delhi air quality Diwali 2024: On Monday, the air quality in Delhi remained very poor just a few days before Diwali. The Central Pollution Control Board reported that the national capital had an AQI of 328 at 7 p.m.
The Central Pollution Control Board also reported that the AQI remained in the "very poor" category in several parts of the capital city, very poor air quality is very dangerous for your health.

As per the reports, AQI reading between 0 and 50 is considered 'good’, 51 to 100 comes under 'satisfactory' category, 101 to 200 is considered moderate, 201 and 300 is considered poor, 301 and 400 comes under very poor reading and 401 and 500 is considered severe reading.
The air quality has gotten little better compared to two days ago, when the AQI dropped significantly due to a lack of strong winds.
The IQair website reported that the air quality in Pitampura, Delhi stood at 167 at am.

The air quality in Delhi's Defense Colony was 324, indicating that the pollution levels has increased in the national capital. As Diwali celebrations begins on Monday, the AQI in Delhi is expected to get worse.
On Sunday, the air quality in Delhi was inferior because calm winds stopped dispersion of pollutants. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported, Delhi's 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 355 at 4 pm compared to 255 on Saturday.
The CPCB shared reports from 37 of the city's 40 radar station. The reports showed that the air quality stood under "severe" category at three stations: Bawana, Burari, and Jahangirpuri.
