Delhi Weather Alert: Light Rain, Thunderstorms, and Winds Up to 70 kmph Likely Today, Says IMD
As of today, the IMD data showed that Delhi experience its wettest month of May without a single heatwave day in the month of May this year.

Delhi Weather Alert: On Saturday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicated it expected Delhi to receive light rain and lightning Saturday evening because of loosening cloud cover from northwest-east-southeast direction.
In a posting on X at about 3:23 pm, the IMD said rain and lightning is likely from a trough moving from northwest-east-southeast direction to south-east and north-east, so areas will see periods of rain over most areas in the national capital over the next couple of hours.

Gusty winds may also occur in the range of 50-60 kmph, and gusts may reach up to 70 kmph. “A group of clouds/tornado line moving from the northwest-southeast direction toward the northeast is likely to bring light rain and lightning to most parts of Delhi in the next 1-2 hours, accompanied by winds at a speed of 50-60 km per hour, which may occasionally reach up to 70 km per hour,” the IMD post read.
According to IMD records, The national capital experienced its wettest May, without any day experiencing a heat wave, May this year.
Between May 1 and May 30 2023, Delhi observed a total of 188.9 mm of rain. May had multiple successive waves of thunderstorms and gusty winds, including a severe thunderstorm activity that affected the National Capital Region (NCR).
The IMD, previously indicated that the rapid progression of the southwest monsoon has begun as predicted over most of India, and issued warnings of thunderstorm developments with gusty winds over the next four to five days in many parts of northwest India.

The IMD also indicated the weather may be due to an upper air cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan in addition to one lying over the northern parts of central Uttar Pradesh.
Officials told PTI that at least nine people have died due to flash floods and landslides in Arunachal Pradesh following significant rains over the previous few days.
Seven people from two families died when a landslide caused by recent heavy rainfall pushed their vehicle off the road late Friday night while driving along the Bana-Seppa stretch of National Highway 13 in East Kameng district.
The vehicle was driving from Bana to Seppa in the district of Bichom when the landslide occurred, sending the vehicle into a "deep gorge", according to East Kameng Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamdam Sikom. "All the victims were residents of Kitchang village in Bana," he said.
