Delhi New CM Announcement LIVE: The newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs of Delhi will meet on the eve of Wednesday at 7pm to elect their legislative party leader who would take oath as chief minister on February 20. Reports suggest that the party is weighing the option of selecting the next chief minister among the new MLAs, and a woman MLA is also a possible consideration.

With the oath-taking ceremony continuing at a grand scale on Wednesday at Ramlila Maidan, the event that is to of officially begin on Thursday, 11 am, with the presence of several senior leaders, will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, and others.
Senior BJP leaders Tarun Chugh and Vinod Tawde are looking after the arrangements for the swearing-in.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attacked the BJP as it took its time in making a decision to announce the next chief minister of Delhi and went so far as to indicate that the party was now unable even to decide on any MLA for the purpose.
BJP MP Yogender Chandolia challenged AAP to reveal its Leader of Opposition in the soon-to-be-formed legislative assembly as he shot back at the criticism from AAP over the delay in naming Delhi's next chief minister.

Monday was a busy day, wherein preparations were going on for a fresh coat of paint and cleaning of the Ramlila Maidan, which can accommodate around 30,000 people.
"That is the reason why this option has been made because that was the very historical place where first-ever mega protest against Indira Gandhi's government in 1975 under the leadership of Jayaprakash Narayan was held," explained a BJP leader.
The BJP made history in the Delhi assembly election 2025, after returning to power in the national capital after 27 years. Out of the total 70 assembly seats, the party has bagged 48 seats thereby terminating the rule of the Aam Aadmi Party.
