According to the IMD, Safdarjung observed minimum visibility of 50 metre from 12.30 am to 1.30 am which improved thereafter becoming 200 metre and continues to remain so 7.30 am, 45 trains were delayed due to the dense fog on Saturday said PTI.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for Delhi-NCR over the weekend, forecasting heavy rainfall on January 11 and 12. The rains are expected to be accompanied by chilly winds, intensifying the ongoing cold wave.

The IMD predicts that the minimum temperature will drop further, with Delhi expected to see a range between 6 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius. Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram are set to experience similar cold conditions, with minimum temperatures dipping to as low as 5 degrees Celsius in Ghaziabad.
Despite the chilly nights, daytime temperatures are predicted to remain stable, offering brief respite from the biting cold.
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) reported delays of over 100 flights due to low visibility, and train services are also facing significant disruptions.
The airport informed that low visibility procedures are in place, assuring that flight operations remain normal.

However, passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updated flight information, especially as flights not compliant with Category III (CAT III) may be affected.
Meanwhile, The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was 409 at 6 am on Friday and settled at 397 at 4 pm, the “very poor”, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered “good,” 51-100 “satisfactory,” 101-200 “moderate,” 201-300 “poor,” 301-400 “very poor,” and 401-500 “severe.”
A thick blanket of fog enveloped other areas of north India as well on Friday, primarily Punjab and Haryana. There was zero visibility in Amritsar because of dense fog, as per a report of the meteorological department. Fog was also observed in Ludhiana, Patiala, Chandigarh, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal.
