Delhi Court Summons Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav in Land-for-Jobs Case

Delhi Court Summons Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav: Delhi court has issued production warrant for former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav in connection with land for jobs case.
The case relates to corruption charges against Lalu Prasad who was the Union railway minister during which he is alleged to have traded jobs for land.
Prior to this in mid-June, the CBI filed a closing charge-sheet against Lalu Prasad Yadav and 78 others of which 39 were candidates in the land-for-jobs scam.

SUB-Convention: According to the given case, it is claimed that there was a need for non gazetted officials to be appointed as substitutes in Group “D” posts in the railway zones during Lalu Prasad Yadav as Union minister of railways between 2004 and 2009 bribed railways officials for personal gains.
These accusations stated that, such privileges arrived on the form of land grants to Yadav’s kin. Even it is further claimed that the appointed individuals or their families, the residents of Patna sold or gifted their land to Yadav’s relatives or a private company owned by his family through which, these properties were transferred.
They also accused that there was no advertisements or public notice in the appointment of subordinates in the zonal railways. However, the appointees all residing in Patna have bagged the assignments in various zonal railways such as Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hazipur.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned then Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav in relation with the land-for-jobs case in December 2023.
However, Yadav dismissed it as routine, saying , “I have been going always; it's a routine. I went earlier as well. From 2017 to 2023, I have been going regularly whenever ED, Income Tax, or CBI called me. What would these agencies do? They are also pressurised.”
CBI filed an FIR on May 18, 2022 for the case against then Union Minister of Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi, two daughters Rajeshwari Singh a IAS officer and Ragini Mahajan, and some unknown public servant and private persons.
