Deborra-Lee Furness Files for Divorce from Hugh Jackman, Cites ‘Traumatic Journey of Betrayal’

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are making their divorce official after hours of negotiations. In a joint statement released in September 2023, they announced after almost 27 years together they were headed separate ways. Now with a recent report from Daily Mail, we learned that sources close to Deborra-Lee revealed she made a proper settlement and signed the official divorce with Hugh Jackman.

About the settlement

The source added that talking to close sources, Deborra-Lee Furness filed the complaint in May 23 and from the filings, everything has been 'ironed out behind the scenes.' The divorce consists of continuation of health care coverage, a proposed qualified medical child support order, a New York state case registry form (used for reporting child support orders to the New York State Registry), settlement, proposed judgment of divorce, and certificate of dissolution, reported as explained by Furness' attorney Elena Karabatos via report.

Hugh and Deborra share two adopted children, Oscar and Ava.

The report went on to add, “A settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with which includes a handsome spousal support payment. There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, she got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure. There is not going to be any drama with this gives closure that she needed. They have worked out the details in advance and everything is ironed out in terms of a settlement, alimony and the expenses for the future of their children. They are amicable and they are both fully committed to being the best parents that they can be.”

Deborra's statement

Meanwhile, in a statement Deborra said, “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”

Hugh and Deborra met on the set of the Australian TV series Corelli and started dating and saw each other in 1995 and got married a year after, on April 11 1996.

In relation to this, Hugh is reportedly romantically linked to Sutton Foster. The public has been made aware of their relationship by seeing the two attend each other's theater events and admit to going on a date.
