Cyclone Fengal: Record Rain in Puducherry, Schools Shut as Storm Heads to Karnataka, Kerala
Cyclone Fengal weakened on Sunday, a day after landfall near Puducherry, but heavy rain lashed the union territory which received the highest rainfall in 30 years and Army and NDRF were deployed to evacuate people stranded in flooded areas.

Schools Shut as Storm Heads: Cyclone Fengal to hit Kerala-Karnataka coast by Dec 3 as low pressure.
Cyclone Fengal weakened on Sunday, a day after landfall near Puducherry, but heavy rain lashed the union territory which received the highest rainfall in 30 years and Army and NDRF were deployed to evacuate people stranded in flooded areas.
Schools and colleges in Puducherry have been closed on Monday, Dec 2 as heavy rain is forecast due to Cyclone Fengal which is moving west and northwest and expected to hit Kerala-Karnataka coast as low pressure by Dec 3.

Some schools and colleges will also be closed in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Vellore and Ranipet districts of Tamil Nadu where heavy rainfall is expected, according to PTI.
Cyclone Fengal and it' s impact:
1.Cyclone Fengal which made landfall on Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast on Nov 30 has weakened and is moving west and northwest and heavy rainfall is expected to hit the coast and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh.
2.IMD said in its a post on X that the remnants of the weather system will continue to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a well marked low pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu by Monday morning. “The remnant low pressure area is likely to emerge over southeast and adjoining east central Arabian Sea off north Kerala-Karnataka coasts around December 3,” IMD said.

3.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an orange alert for Bengaluru and its nearby districts till December 3 due to rough weather conditions. Light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue till December 5.
4. University of Madras has postponed its regular exams scheduled for today (Dec 2) and will intimate the new dates later, according to The Hindu.
5. NDRF is actively involved in rescue operations, using boats to evacuate people from flooded areas. Indian Army battalions have been mobilised in Chennai and have rescued around 100 people in 2 hours, according to ANI.
