Congress Leader Anil Marelli Shot Dead in Telangana

Anil Marelli, a Congress Scheduled Caste Cell leader of the Medak district in Telangana, died under suspicious circle. The police have turned around to treat the case as a potential targeted killing.

Anil, the local of the village Paitara, was said to be on his way home when the incident occurred after visit to Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad. Earlier reports indicated an accident on the road but later investigation brought out gunshot wounds on his body that was located on Sunday at Variguntam substation in Kolcharam mandal.

The police added that there were two bullets in Anil which had perforated his shoulder on the right side and there were other injuries on the back and the hands. Bullet casings were found on the scene making the accident theory to appear doubtful.

Another thing the police observed was the fact that there were no bullet marks on the car thus indicating that possibly they fired the gunshots at very near proximity as Anil drove around in it. There also were bloodstains on the seat and the car was observed to have veered off-road into agricultural fields after the incident.

Kolcharam Sub-Inspector Ghouse visited the scene, and He instituted an investigation. The post-mortem examination of the body was done by sending it to Medak mortuary.

Although the headquarters of Congress led by Narsapur in-charge Avula Rajireddy has not yet intimated by visiting the spot, some of the Dalit organisations have sought fair, just and transparent investigation in the incident.

Police authorities are now of the impression that the killing was premeditated and are investigating to know who is behind the murder and what was the motive behind it.
