Centre Lifts GRAP 3 Restrictions in Delhi-NCR as Air Pollution Levels Drop
With further decline in air pollution on Friday amid strong winds, stage 3 restrictions have been withdrawn.

Centre Lifts GRAP 3 Restrictions in Delhi-NCR: Its panel has revoked curbs under stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Friday owing to reduced pollution, chiefly because of weather conditions, according to an official order. Soft winds, lower temperatures, and foggy conditions had allowed pollutants to accumulate in the region earlier this week, prompting the CAQM to order the strictest curbs under GRAP stages 3 and 4.

The commission decided on Thursday that with pollution levels dropping after a brief spell of rain in the region, it would now revoke stage 4 restrictions.
With further decline in air pollution on Friday amid strong winds, stage 3 restrictions have been withdrawn.
Under the regime of GRAP Stage 3, no non-essential construction work is permitted.
Classes up to grade 5 are to be convened in a hybrid manner under Stage 3. Parents and the students have the liberty to take online education wherever it is possible.

Under stage 3, the entry of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles into Delhi and adjoining NCR areas is restricted. Persons with disabilities are exempt from this restriction. It also bans non-essential diesel-operated medium goods vehicles with BS-IV or older standards in Delhi.
In winter, the Delhi-NCR region enforces GRAP restrictions that classification is based on air quality, whilst also which lists four stages Stage 1 as Poor, with AQI rating between 201 and 300 classes, Stage 2 is Very Poor, with AQI-301-400 classes, Stage 3 is Severe with AQI 401-450 or higher, and Stage 4 is Severe Plus with any AQI rating above 450.
Adverse meteorological circumstances trigger completion of the Delhi-NCR air hazard index, apart from vehicular emissions, in addition to burning paddy straw, fireworks, and other local sources of pollution on winter months.
