CBSE Approves Biannual Board Exams for Class 10: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) approved, on Tuesday, the draft norms for conducting the class 10 board examination twice a year, beginning in 2026.

The draft norms will now be put in the public domain and the people concerned could submit their feedback till March 9 after which will finally approve the policy.

The students will start the write-up examinations in the first phase between February 17 to March 6 while they will conduct the second phase from May 5 to 20.

The norms say that all students will have to prepare the entire syllabus in both examinations. Moreover, it added that although the examinations will be held twice a year, practical or internal assessments will still be done once a year. Centred by the assigned centres for both, the same are to be extended in fees for the exam charge.

"Both the examinations will be conducted on full syllabus and the candidates will be allotted the same examination centres in the two editions. Exam fees will be enhanced and collected for both exams at the time of application filing," said a senior board official board as quoted by PTI.

"The first and second editions of the board exams will also act as supplementary exams, and no special exams will be conducted in any circumstances," the official added.

This change is intended to de-stress and help students improve their performance on the examination. The education board is also expected to introduce a worldwide curriculum for any countries affiliated foreign schools starting from 2026-2027, following the introduction of the NEP. These changes are also aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020; aimed at creating greater flexibility to accommodate children.
