Bypoll Results 2025: AAP Triumphs in Visavadar & Ludhiana; Kejriwal Says Gujarat Rejects BJP, Congress
As reported on the Election Commission website, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won Gujarat's Visavadar and Ludhiana West seat, while Congress won Nilambur (Kerala) seat. The BJP held onto the Kadi seat.

Bypoll Results 2025: On Monday, the Election Commission of India announced the results of the five assembly bypolls across four states, which were won by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). AAP had two victories, Ludhiana West in Punjab and Visavadar in Gujarat.
Congress had the Nilambur seat in Kerala, while the BJP held Kadi in Gujarat. Kaliganj in West Bengal went to the TMC by a comfortable margin.

In Nilambur (Kerala), Congress candidate Aryadan Shoukath won against CPM leader M Swaraj by a margin of over 11077 votes. In Visavadar (Gujarat), the former AAP state president Gopal Italia won against BJP candidate Kirit Patel by a margin of 17554 votes. Congress’ Nitin Ranpariya finished third with 5501 votes.
In Kadi (Gujarat), BJP candidate Rajendra Chavda was able to hold the seat for the party, defeating Congress’ Ramesh Chavda by a margin of 39452 votes. The by-election was necessitated by the death of sitting BJP MLA Karsanbhai Punjabhai Solanki in February.

In Ludhiana West (Punjab), AAP’s Sanjeev Arora won against Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu by a margin of 10637 votes.
In Kaliganj (West Bengal), TMC candidate Alifa Ahmed won against BJP'S Ashish Ghosh by a substantial margin of 50049 votes.
The by-elections took place on June 19. While the deaths of sitting MLAs triggered the polls in one seat each in Gujarat, West Bengal, and Punjab, the contested races in Nilambur (Kerala) and one Gujarat seat were set off by resigning incumbent legislators.
