BJP MLA Booked for Placing ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ Poster at Jaipur Mosque, Sparks Controversy

‘Pakistan Murdabad’ Poster at Jaipur Mosque: Tension erupted in the Chardiwari area of Jaipur's Walled city after controversial posters reading “Pakistan Murdabad” and some other offensive slogans were allegedly pasted outside the Jama Masjid in Johri Bazaar on Friday night.

Acharya clarified that he had only participated in a protest earlier that day at Badi Chaupad, organised to condemn the recent attack in Pahalgam and to criticise Pakistan’s alleged indirect role in the violence. According to him, slogans raised at the protest were against terrorism and Pakistan, not aimed at any community.

Despite his clarification, tensions flared as large crowds gathered demanding action against the MLA. Congress MLAs Amin Kagzi and Rafiq Khan joined the demonstrators in solidarity. A delegation of the protesters later met Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph.

“The MLA put up the poster at around 9 pm inside the mosque along with some other BJP workers right after the protest rally. The action enraged the local Muslim community who gathered in the area at hundred in number and started demanding an immediate arrest of the MLA for hurting their sentiment. A large police force from five police stations were immediately deployed in the area while the senior police officials also reached the spot to pacify the mob,” additional police commissioner (Addl CP) of Manak Chowk Hari Shankar Sharma said.

Meanwhile, a video of MLA Balmukundacharya and former MLA Ashok Parnami, along with three to four BJP leaders, allegedly pasting the poster on the wall inside the premises of a local mosque and trampling a similar poster on the floor near a bathroom, was reportedly shared on social media.

Another video of his supporters shouting “Jai Shree Ram” in front of the mosque was also reportedly circulated on social media platforms. However, HT could not verify the authenticity of these videos.

Balmukundachrya said, “We were protesting against the terrorism and Pakistan. The same posters were also put up on the pavements.”

An FIR was filed at Manak Chowk police station based on a complaint by a Jama Masjid Committee member, who told the police that Acharya and his supporters entered the mosque, shouted provocative slogans, and issued threats.
