Bengaluru Woman Highlights Price Difference on Zepto for Android vs iPhone Users
Beyond simply customization and price discrimination, Quick Commerce exhibis bias that may be disadvantageous to consumers.

Zepto for Android vs iPhone Users: A new evidence crop up for the Business Standard that found that the fast-commerce platforms want you to have different pricing strategies for the users of iPad and Android recently; Pooja Chhabda took to Instagram and tested Zepto, showing that it is the iPhone that pays more than just over double what an Android user pays for the same product.
In the meanwhile, she fetched a grape, 500g; and opened Zepto on both devices. The amount she found for apples described through Android retail prices was ₹65, but the price for similar weight of grapes is more than ₹146 provided that she uses an Apple iPhone.
One more member of her experience has been that the iPhone users spent more than the Android consumer on the same merchandise. Chhabda showed how, when using an Android, a green bell pepper was priced at ₹37 while, on an iPhone, it shot up to ₹69.
"This is like a huge difference," Chhabda told her followers on Instagram and asked them to try the same test on their iPhone to verify whether they were also overcharged when using their iPhones.
It often happens on certain applications that if prices have a huge difference for Apple and Android, victims could be attributed to demographics of these companies' user base. E-commerce companies might think of iPhone users as extremely rich people, so they'll get more money falling on them this way.

Those watching the uploaded video said the same in the comment section.
“I think the logic is when you can pay so much extra for the same features that are available on some Androids then you must be willing to pay extra for everything,” one Instagram user commented.
“It’s a very serious issue and if this continues.. I will surely re- think about continuing with iPhone,” another wrote.
“It's not an iPhone vs Android but cheap phones vs premium phones. You will see the differences not just in prices, but also availability, delivery times, etc,” a user theorized.
On reaching HT.com for a response, Zepto was quick to request no comment for this story.
