Bengaluru Stampede: As the thorough investigation into the heartbreaking stampede at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) event wraps up, nine eyewitnesses, including four journalists, met with Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh on Friday to share their accounts, according to a report by Deccan Herald.
These testimonies represent the final phase of the inquiry led by Jagadeesh, who has spent the last three weeks gathering insights from all key players involved, including former city Police Commissioner B Dayanand, the report noted.

Among those who deposed was Kamaresh, a 53-year-old resident of Bapujinagar and a poultry shop owner. Recalling the chaos at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, he described a narrow escape, “There was a sudden rush to enter the stadium from Gate 21 as soon as it was opened. I was in the crowd but decided to step back as the crowd was largely youngsters trying to push each other to get into the stadium,” he said, according to the publication.

The stampede, which erupted during the RCB victory celebration, tragically resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals and ignited widespread outrage over the failures in crowd management.
Before Friday’s session, the deputy commissioner had already taken statements from officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), RCB representatives, the event organizers, DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt. Ltd., law enforcement officers, injured attendees, and the families of those who lost their lives. Jagadeesh also visited the stadium earlier and reviewed the CCTV footage from the day of the incident.
