  • The omega-3 fatty acids may also help lower your blood pressure, thereby reducing your risk of heart disease.
  • According to a meta-analysis of 31 placebo-controlled trials, fish oil reduced blood pressure by -3.0/-1.5 mm Hg on average.
  • Moreover, adults who consumed 2–3 grams of combined DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids daily had a 2 mm Hg reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
  • By keeping your arteries clear and flexible, omega-3s can contribute to a healthier cardiovascular system. By preventing plaque buildup in your arteries, omega-3s can help prevent hardening and narrowing of your arteries, leading to heart disease.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids play an important role in eye health, and a lack of them can result in eye diseases like macular degeneration. Fish oil can play an important role in maintaining healthy vision.
  • Baby brain development: Omega-3 fatty acids are crucial to a baby's development, especially during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Sharma recommends taking fish oil with water after a full meal, such as breakfast, lunch, or dinner, for optimal absorption. The recommended dosage is typically three grams per day.

According to Sharma, people with seafood allergies should avoid fish oil. Additionally, people taking blood thinners should consult their physician before consuming fish oil.
