BCCI Takes Tough Call: Jasprit Bumrah Released from Squad for India vs England 5th Test at The Oval
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been dropped by the India test squad. The BCCI makes a long overdue announcement.

BCCI Takes Tough Call: Jasprit Bumrah, the India pacer who does not form part of the playing eleven of the fifth and the conclusive Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, has been relieved off the team. As seen in an update by the BCCI earlier before the commencement of play on the second day of the Oval Test, the 31-year-old was on the mend before the New Zealand day one wickets took him down as well. Before the series against England, Bumrah would already have been confirmed to play only three Tests as he has a workload to manage.
Bumrah was in action in the first and third and fourth Test versus England. The only win that India recorded in this series was in the match, which the main pacer did not play in the playing team. The India led by Shubman Gill had posted a massive win by 336 runs in Edgbaston Test. Bumrah was rested in this match and Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna were used as up-front pacers.
The pacer bagged a total of 14 wickets in three matches he had played in the Anderson- Tendulkar Trophy. When playing in the Lord day Test, he had his best figures, which he recorded as 5/74 in the first innings. Thanks to this spell the No.1 Test bowler made his name on the Lord s Honours Board.
Bumrah had also come back with an annihilating five wicker game in the first innings of the series opener at Headingley, Leeds. His attempt was however not sufficient to ensure India emerges as victorious in the first and the third Test match of the series.
In the fourth Test at Manchester, his speeds remained slow most of the time as he bowled at 130-135kmph. He was bowling in his own self but still was the best of the Indian bowlers because he could squeeze away the runs.
Nevertheless, Siraj, Anshul Kamboj and Shardul Thakur gave away runs on the other end. This made Bumrah the leading wicket taker by an Asian fast bowler in the SENA countries, surpassing Wasim Akram, during the series against England earlier in the series.
