Shahi Jama Masjid survey
Arson, Stone Pelting, Tear Gas: The wreckers burned some more vehicles. The survey is completed, the personnel have safely escorted out of the area, stated police.
The survey was given by a local court of law upon a petition that said this mosque was built on the ruins of the temple of Harihar.
According to sources from the local administration, "an Advocate Commissioner" was resuming its second survey from around 7 a.m. as part of a court-referred examination into the disputed site.

"Some miscreants came out of the crowd gathered near the site and pelted stones at the police team. The police used minor force and tear gas to bring the situation under control," Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Vishnoi told PTI.
According to the police, miscreants will identify and book.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said action would be taken against those obstructing the survey.
"It is the duty of the government and the police to follow the instruction of the court and whoever will hinder this, action will be taken against them," he said.
The Samajwadi Party hit out at the UP government for the survey.
"The Sambhal police and administration, along with the BJP, have been provoking people in the Shahi Masjid issue in the name of ASI survey. This comes a day after the BJP claimed that it got Muslim votes in Kundarki. Is this the reward that the BJP is giving for Kundarki? What does the Places of Worship Act 1991 say... barring Babri Masjid and Ram Mandir issue no other structure will be touched or changed... exactly after the elections the BJP has started its game once again. This game of BJP is not good for the integrity of this nation; BJP is trying to divide the society," said SP spokesperson Ameeque Jamei.

The petition was got by Supreme Court lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain. He had earlier asserted this week that "Advocate Commission" was ordered by the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) to survey the mosque.
The report was to be submitted after a videography and photography survey.
According to Jain, the suit was encompassed by the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, the mosque committee, and the district magistrate of Sambhal.
Gopal Sharma, a local advocate for the Hindu side, had said that both the "Baburnama" and the "Ain-e-Akbari" talk about the temple of Harihar, which he claimed was razed by Mughal Emperor Babur in 1529.
