Arshdeep Singh’s Coach Jokes ‘I Can’t Coach You Anymore’ After Pacer’s Bowling Query
Amid speculations that he should be travelling with India on their Test tour of England, Arshdeep Singh had a call with his coach.

Arshdeep Singh’s Coach Jokes: Arshdeep Singh came a giant leap closer to that India Test cap as he bowled a brilliant spell of 3/16 in the four overs against Lucknow Super Giants for Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday. Arshdeep's spell of bowling saw PBKS win the match by 37 runs over LSG, and the second prize was recorded in the IPL 2025 points table. Punjab Kings, with 15 points in 11 matches, is very close to making a Playoffs berth with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Titans also in the fray. But more importantly, with PBKS doing well, the limelight has shifted back to Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep, who in spite of being good in white-ball cricket have struggled to break into the Test squad.

The five-Test series against England being just around the corner, Arshdeep is turning heads. He is currently third in terms of wickets taken this season with 16 behind only Prasidh Krishna and Josh Hazlewood in the Purple Cap list. The presence of Mohammed Shami is dwindling, while Jasprit Bumrah is managing his work-load and Mohamed Siraj is yet to fire in full, leaving India starving more pace options, more so in England, where the ball seams around with great viciousness.
After blowing LSG's chase to smithereens in Dharamsala, Arshdeep Singh quickly called up his childhood coach to get a fast feedback on 'How was my bowling?' Find out what followed in the next few seconds.
"I burst into laughter. I told him, Arsh, you have elevated your game so much that I can't coach you anymore," Rai told The Times of India. "What he showed on Sunday was maturity. Yes, there was juice in the surface, and three years ago, Arsh would have gone for that 3-4m length to get the swing, but now he didn't. He has learnt the importance of hitting the 6m (good length) in these conditions."

Arshdeep Singh is ready for Tests, says coach
Arshdeep has got T20 and ODI cricket cracked for India. He went on to be the highest wicket-taker for India in the South African series and Vijay Hazare Trophy. In T20I cricket, he has picked up 99 wickets, more than any other Indian, with the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah far behind in the list. Since Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Irfan Pathan, and RP Singh retired, India never had a profitable left-arm seamer playing Tests, and Rai feels that this might just end with Arshdeep's inclusion in the squad, which the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee will be meeting to finalize next week.
"Wo pak chuka hai (He is ripe now). He should get a chance to play in the red ball. He can bring the balance that India has been looking for so long," Rai said.
