Food Poisoning Allegation at Kerala NCC Camp: Two men were arrested on Monday, December 30, for allegedly assaulting an Army officer Lieutenant Colonel Karneyil Singh, Administrative Officer of the 21 Kerala NCC Battalion, at an NCC cadet camp held at KMM College Thrikkakara. The incident occurred shortly after more than 60 cadets were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning at the camp on December 23.
Several people protested outside the camp over the 'food poisoning' incident. Local leaders from different political parties, including the CPI(M) and BJP, also joined the protest.
More than 60 cadets were hospitalized last week following a suspected case of food poisoning at the camp. Officials said the incident had created an anxious situation and the police later registered a case against 10 outsiders who created a ruckus within the camp after news of the incident spread.

The NCC has also ordered a departmental-level inquiry into the incident — collecting food and water samples for various tests.
Kochi city police said the accused had been identified as Nishad, a native of Fort Kochi, and Navas, of Palluruthi here.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered by Thrikkakara Police, the accused trespassed into the college hosting the camp at around 11.30 pm, where they stopped, threatened, and subsequently attacked Lt Col Karnail Singh. The officer was stabbed with a sharpened object on his cheek, neck, and back, as per PTI.

A video submitted as evidence showed Lt Col Singh maintaining composure during the assault, refraining from retaliation.
"These cadets were taken to the Primary Health Centre and later to the Medical College. Subsequently, 47 more cadets who reported similar symptoms were also taken to the Medical College, where they were treated in the OP department and promptly sent back to the camp," NCC said. A total of 513 cadets (283 boys and 235 girls) participated in the camp.
The Additional Director General of NCC has directed a Brigadier-led panel to submit a report on the case of suspected food poisoning.
