Zomato Delists Restaurant, Bans Owner After 10-Year-Old Girl Dies from Cake Ordered Online for Birthday
Bans Owner After 10-Year-Old Girl Dies from Cake Ordered Online for Birthday: According to reports, the 10-year-old girl's birthday celebration in Patiala was complicated by an online cake order. According to reports, the family ordered a cake through Zomato on March 24th. Concerns have been raised about regulations for cloud kitchens on food delivery platforms following the incident.
Zomato expressed its condolences and took action against the restaurant after the girl and several other family members fell ill after eating the cake.
The company is deeply saddened by the recent incident in Patiala. It has immediately delisted the restaurant and barred its owner from operating on its platform.
The girl's grandfather revealed details of the order, highlighting inconsistencies. "The cake was ordered online around 6 pm," he said. "By 11 pm, everyone who ate the cake was sick. We lost our granddaughter, while the others thankfully recovered."
There has been a lot of criticism online regarding the lack of proper regulations for cloud kitchens on food delivery platforms as a result of this incident.
The safety and legitimacy of vendors listed on Zomato and similar services are being questioned by many users.
Upon receiving the family's complaint, police registered a case, suspecting food poisoning was to blame. The registered address for the bakery, "Cake Kanha," did not match the actual location, raising questions about a cloud kitchen.
In addition, billing discrepancies suggest that the order originated in a different city.
