Zelenskyy: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, told Sky news that the war in Ukraine could end if all the unoccupied parts of the country were brought under the umbrella of NATO.
This reaction came from the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, answering a reporter about reports that suggested US President-elect Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Ukraine would require Kyiv to "give away the land occupied by Russia" in return for Ukrainians becoming members of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation).

Zelenskyy said that the parts of the country that he has under control will have to be offered NATO membership in order for the "hot phase of the war" to be over. Provided, he said, the invitation recognises Ukraine's internationally recognised borders.
Zelenskyy said that after this, he can get the rest of occupied Ukraine "in a diplomatic way".
On top of that, he was saying that he needed a ceasefire agreement for the reason that it guarantees that Putin "would not return".
Importantly, no such offer has been extended by NATO to Ukraine yet.
"Ukraine has never considered such a proposal, because no one has officially offered it to us,” Zelensky was quoted as saying by BBC.
He also said that "NATO should cover all the territories under Kyiv control immediately," and this is very important to Ukraine.

In addition, the president of Ukraine stated that Ukraine is to cooperate with Donald Trump, the new US president, which will come January 2025. This co-operation is a must if the country wants "to have the biggest supporter," he said.
"I want to work with him directly because there are different voices from people around him. And that's why we need not to [allow] anybody around to destroy our communication," the Ukrainian president was quoted as saying by Sky News.
Throughout his campaign, Trump promised to end the Ukraine war as soon as he took office.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy has reportedly said in the past that Ukraine would like to settle the war with Russia through "diplomatic means" in 2025.
