He got to his 30th Test century after the end of the 3rd session of play on the 3rd day of the first Test of 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Optus Stadium in Perth.
Sachin had 6 Test centuries in Australia in his playing days, Kohli now has 7 in 14 matches.

This is Kohli’s 7th century and he equals the record of Ricky Ponting for most Test centuries by an individual at venues between India and Australia, and in Australia.
The 100 runs today also keeps Kohli ahead of Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara in the list of runs scored in Tests between India and Australia.

He got to his century on the 3rd ball of the 135th over of India’s 2nd innings bowled by Marnus Labuschagne.

In the 2nd innings Kohli scored 77 runs without losing his wicket with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy (38 runs from 27 balls) for the 7th wicket and faced 143 balls, 8 fours and 2 sixes. After his hundred India declared for 487/6 in 134.3 overs, setting a target of 534 for Australia in the 4th innings of the match.
Today’s ton was Kohli’s 2nd Test hundred in as many Tests played at Optus Stadium, Perth. Kohli had scored 123 in the last India-Australia Test played here in December 2018. Five Indian batsmen have scored a Test century in Perth but only Kohli has done it twice.
Kohli's last Test century before this one was scored against the West Indies during the second Test of the two-match series played in Port of Spain from July 20-24, 2024.
