US Issues Tsunami Threat Alert for Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands & Vanuatu: Be Prepared to Seek Higher Ground
The embassy of the US has called upon American citizens in Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea to monitor official announcements and the local news and to be prepared to evacuate to high ground.
An 8.8 magnitude earthquake along the east coast of the Kamchatka peninsula, Russia, has also triggered a tsunami warning by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea partially located in the South Pacific.

Following the assessment of the current situation, the US embassy has made some guidelines to its citizens and these guidelines include:
Stay informed as per the information availed by local authorities and reputable sources.
When the shaking is intense or of long duration or you feel abnormal sea action when in a coastal area, you should be prepared to leave to higher areas immediately.
Stop vacaying/as well as visitng near rivers, coastlines or coastline line locations for the moment.
Ensure that you are ready with all your emergency needs, including food, water, prescription, and other important ones.

People in Hawaii advised not to come near water
The Big Island and Oahu no longer were under evacuation orders but Hawaii continued to be under a tsunami advisory.
The advisory means the potential to have flooding in beaches or harbors, as well as powerful currents and dangerous waves.
The administrator of Hawaii Emergency Management Agency James Barros recommended avoiding the sea and the beach.
