Shefali Jariwala’s Final Hours: Unsupervised IV, Fasting & Puja Before Tragic End
The day she succumbed to a cardiac arrest, police have said that Shefali Jariwala had been on a fast following a Satyanarayan Puja.
Shefali Jariwala’s Final Hours: Shefali Jariwala who is an actor had been undergoing a religious religious fasting and was likely to have used medicines without food in the stomach, which is a possible cause of her death. This is becoming quite possible following the emerging clues and reports on the death of the actor at the age of 42, June 27, as a result of sudden illness.
Although it has yet to be released whether the death was on cardiac arrest, she is said to have succumbed to a cardiac attack as the immediate cause.

Police said that she was fasting after conducting a Satyanarayan Puja, a ritual conducted to bring prosperity and overall good, at the family residence. She had not eaten since several hours, yet her husband and TV actor Parag Tyagi informed the police that she collapsed at around 10.30 pm after having food that had been cooked a day earlier.
As Parag Tyagi walked down the apartment block with their dog, he received a call with the house help reporting that Shefali was unconscious. He came dashing down in the lift but the house help went down the stairs to tend the old dog.
Pooja Ghai, the friend of Shefali Jariwala, quoted Parag to trace her last hours. “Parag said that her pulse was still on, her eyes were not opening, and she just had dead weight to her body,” Ghai told film journalist Vivek Lalwani.
“He realised something was definitely wrong and took her to the hospital, but apparently when she was brought to the hospital, she was already dead,” Ghai further said.
Tyagi had admitted her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital, Andheri, Mumbai where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The preliminary investigation on the effect of possible heart arrest was revealed after the post-mortem was performed at R N Cooper Hospital, Juhu.
The put together information provided by doctors and police sources is the sudden nature of the collapse that is associated with low blood pressure which might have been caused by a long term fasting together with the administration of medicine to the stomach when empty.
The question arises as to whether in-between the puja, and her subsequent death, there was a part to be played by anti-ageing and skin-lightening pills and other such medicines, used without supervision? The police have reportedly recovered at least two boxes of anti-ageing medicines, tablets called skin glow and vitamin supplements during a raid in her house.

Some of the items seized included vials of the glutathione, which is sold as a skin-brightening agent.
According to what Pooja Ghai said, it turned out that Shefali also used to receive Vitamin-C intravenous (IV) drips, which she got on the night she died as well.
According to her such IV drips are not unsafe and it is very common in Dubai.
According to Shefali family, she has consumed such supplements and over the counter medications without the explicit participation of doctors.
There is no record of foul play expected. The police have however recorded statements of her husband, the other members of the family, staffs that work in her house and some of her friends.
Less than an hour after she collapsed in her apartment, police got the information. The officers arrived at the Juhu hospital before the midnight and the procedure underwent the next day as it was by procedure where in the removal of the body was video recorded.
As the body was handed back to the family after the post mortem was done, and cremated, its viscera was retained and dispatched to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina, Mumbai, to show the actual cause of the death. That may require two to three months.
Shefali Jariwala came to the limelight twenty years back in 2002 when she was the lead model in the remix song, Kaanta Laga. She also worked on other projects although it is mainly reality shows but she is not as popular as she was with her breakout hit.
