Randhir Singh Makes History as First Indian President of Olympic: The former Indian sports shooter and administrator Randhir Singh will become the first Indian to be the President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
Radhir Singh was nominated for the president position after he became the top candidate in the election which was held on September 8.
The OCA Election committee in an press release, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) stated, “The OCA election commission can confirm that OCA acting president Randhir Singh is the sole eligible candidate to be nominated for election of the OCA General Assembly on 8 September 2024.”
It statement further stated, “The Election Committee, chaired by Justice Rohinton Nariman (former judge of Supreme Court of India), met today to review the CVs and eligibility requirements as per OCA Constitution, the Election Rules and Guidelines, of all nominated candidates submitted by Member NOCs of OCA by 21 July 2024 deadline.”
“The Committee unanimously approved the nomination of Mr Singh who was nominated by the NOC of India and supported by 27 Member NOCs of OCA.”

Meanwhile, Randhir Singh is 77 years old and is a former member of the International Olympic Council (IOC) and former secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
He is currently the acting head of the continental sports apex body since September 2021.
Radhir Singh is among India's most important administrators and also a famous sportsman all over the World.
Radhir Singh started his sports administration journey in 1984 and he retired from sports in 1994.

He was also made the acting head of the Olympic Council of Asia since September 2021 after Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Sabah who was the previous Acting chief.
Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Sabah was stepped down from the acting chief position because he was accused of a forgery case by the Geneva court.
Furthermore, Radhir Singh joined the IOC as a member from 2001 to 2014. He also served as the OCA Secretary-General from 1991 to 2015.
However, Radhir Singh won a lot of national titles in both skeet and trap shooting, he also won a gold medal in the Asian Games in 1978 in Bangkok. In total, Radhir won four medals in the Asian Games and also played mixed trap at five Olympics.
