Rahul Gandhi Warning: There will be such stern action that democracy will never again be undermined, according to Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi pledged on Friday to take stern action against those undermining democracy, hours after the Congress received an income tax notice.

Congress claimed Friday that it had received a fresh demand notice from the income-tax department for a payment of $1823.08 crore. It also claimed that the BJP had violated tax laws and should also receive a demand notice for $4600 crore.

"When the government changes, those who undermine democracy will face action," the Congress party posted Rahul Gandhi's warning on X.

Gandhi said the action will be so severe that democracy won't be undermined again.

He added, "Someday, BJP's government will change and there will be action. And the action will be so stern that this will never happen again."

In a press conference at AICC headquarters, Congress leader Ajay Maken said political parties have to fill out Form 24A, which includes basic information about their donors -- their names and addresses.

Despite attempts to financially cripple Congress, Ramesh said he wouldn't be intimidated.

The Income Tax Department is targeting the Congress and other Opposition parties, according to Maken.

The principal opposition party's bank accounts have been illegally frozen for more than a month on the eve of the general election, Ajay Maken said.
