Online Sale, Home Delivery Of Liquor In Assam
"The Assam cabinet has taken an experimental decision to reduce congestion outside liquor establishments during non-curfew hours," said Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika. "We made our judgement based on the instructions of the Supreme Court and the Madras High Court."
Assam Cabinet Minister, Pijush Hazarika, announced that the state cabinet has decided to conduct a month-long trial of online sale of liquor in the state capital Guwahati.
In response to the growing number of COVID instances, the Assam government has decided to set up online sales, purchases, and home delivery of liquor in Guwahati. To reduce crowds outside liquor shops, online booze sales and liquor home delivery will be available for one month in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) area.
"The Assam cabinet has taken an experimental decision to reduce congestion outside liquor establishments during non-curfew hours," Hazarika said. "We made our judgement based on the instructions of the Supreme Court and the Madras High Court."
These decisions come on the following of Assam's move to table the Cow Protection Bill 2021 on the first day of the assembly's budget session, which began on Monday. It proposes restrictions on interstate transit of cows through Assam in order to reduce livestock smuggling to neighbouring Bangladesh.
The Assam cabinet, on the other hand, determined that tea garden workers would be offered MGNREGA jobs throughout the winter season. When tea output is reduced, they will be assigned tasks like digging a pond, road building, and so on under MNREGA. Under MNREGA, valuable trees such as Agar, Som, and others will be planted for economic reasons. MNREGA will also see the construction of a large number of communal ponds.
