National Donut Day History

It was introduced at the time of the First World War when the situation was very dangerous and fights were quite often.

At that time US soldiers were losing hope and courage as it was an extremely difficult war and then in 1917 the the Salvation Army sent a group of women to the front lines.

Later these women started baking donuts in the helmets and gave them to all the soldiers. These donuts, which were baked inside troops' helmets, were called "doughboys."

Thus, as time passed donuts became more popular and were loved by many people. In 1938, Nation Donut Day was introduced for the first time in Chicago.

National Donut Day 2024: Significance

The doughnut was first made with brown sugar and walnuts. Later, chocolate, cream, and strawberry flavors were added to the inside.

You can celebrate this day by having a donut party with your friends or family or like a challenge who can eat more donuts. As it is National Donut Day, many donut shops will give offers if you buy in large amounts.
